really
looking for?
That’s a brilliant question!Â
Too bad, NONE of the Ballet Academies explain exactly what the requirements are to be accepted.
And that’s where the rumours started. There’s been an eternal disconnection between what you THINK Academies are looking for and what they’re really after.
You think you don’t have the perfect legs behind your ears and super archy feet or cannot at least do ten pirouettes on pointe… and so forth.
It’s time for you to know the truth.
What judges and artistic directors are looking for are:
 Artistic Personality Â
The right type of dancer based on their TASTE (dance is subjective).Â
 A smart dancer.
Not an overtrained, injured one.    Â

Why do we know this?
As former professional dancers who have become teachers and members of the jury at top Ballet Competitions such as YAGP, we've gotten to know many of the world's leading ballet academies’ artistic directors.
Working closely with the most prestigious academies’ leaders, in conjunction with our own experience as professional ballet dancers, we help students find the school that's suitable for them.
Â
Many ballet students after working with us, got
accepted into academies
and even ballet companies.
Â
Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and tell our younger selves WHAT to focus on, HOW to train and WHO to listen to.
But obviously, this is not possible, this is why we made it our mission to help as many young pre-professional dancers as possible learn what is required to make it as a dancer.

Meet your teachers
Â
Hi, we’re Ilenia Montagnoli e
Tommaso Renda.Â
Â
We both became dancers at Staatsballett Berlin and had an incredible career, but we were NOT the gifted dancers you may think. When we were young, this is what people in our ballet circles said about us:
“Ilenia is gifted and lucky because everything seems easy for her, but she is weak in character and not physically strong. She struggles with the technical aspects of dance.”
Â
Tommaso was told something even less empowering by his teacher:
“He is the least talented in his class.
He should become a waiter, not a dancer!”
Â
However, we didn’t want to listen.
Â
I, Ilenia, moved away from home at the age of 17 and became  a principal dancer. Â
Tommaso, not only didn’t become a waiter, but he turned out to be the only one in his class to become a dancer, achieving high levels of success.
